Culture and Heritage

Martvili museum hosts and preserves the archaeological materials of early Stone and Bronze Age. Here you can see the working and fighting tools, ritual stones, and jewels. You will discover that the ancient Georgian vessel Qvevri was not only used by the Kolkhis for keeping the wine, but also as a burial tomb – people used to be buried as embryos, similar to while in womb - a mystery! The samples of ancient Kolkhic wheat and corn grains are kept in the museum too. Here you will also discover the unique Kolkhic vine collection and an ethnographic corner.
