Ojaleshi is an ancient Megrelian grape variety. It is one of the most distinguished grapes among the sixty grape varieties found in Samegrelo. Ojaleshi grapes produce excellent semi-dry wine with a bright red color and a light wild rose aroma!
The cultivation of Ojaleshi for wine production in a European manner started in the second half of the nineteenth century by a descendant of Napoléon Bonaparte and the son-in-law of Dadiani, Frenchman Achille Murat.
