The most important temple of the 10th century is Tsalenjikha Monastery, located on a steep hill near Tsalenjikha. This is where the most famous and powerful principal of Samegrelo, Levan II Dadiani and his wife Darejan, rest. The church of Tsalenjikha is distinguished by its paintings and inscriptions. The interior, which is the only surviving sample of the 14th-century Constantinople school was painted by a special guest from Byzantium, Kir Manuel Evgenikos, dated and signed by the artist himself.
