The nine-summit peak in Mestia is associated with the nine-headed Dews (Daevas), the main character of Georgian fairy tales. Shkhara is located in the Caucasus in Svaneti and is the highest peak of the watershed range. Shkhara is a synthesis of granite and crystal schist, and climbing this mountain only became possible in the 20th century.
